Teesside Taxi Driver Charged With Death By Reckless Driving

It has been alleged that Craig Williamson caused the death of Kirsty Louise Fennon through his dangerous driving on the Coast Road between Redcar and Marske. He has been charged in connection with Fennon’s death but denies being involved. What is known is that the 18 year old student was killed on the road when she was struck by a private hire car. She was walking along the road after a night out.

Williamson was in Teesside Magistrate’s Court this week where he was formally charged with causing death by reckless driving. He pleaded not guilty while some members of Fennon’s family were in attendance. He has been accused of driving above the 40 miles per hour speed limit that is in place on the stretch of road where the incident occurred. The incident happened shortly before 5am on Good Friday morning.

Williamson is alleged to have hit Fennon with his Skoda Octavia cab which his operates as a licensed private hire driver. Fennon was walking home on the Coast Road when she was killed by a passing car. The injuries suffered by the young woman were immediately fatal and she died at the scene.

Her grieving parents paid tribute to their ‘amazing’ young daughter who would have turned 19 the following month. They spoke of how she had touched the lives of almost everyone she met and was known by her friends for her loyalty. They said her loss will leave a void in the lives of friends and family. The Internet is laden with tribute pages set up in her memory. It is indeed a tragic occurrence and Fennon’s parents and family are desperate for justice to be done. At this moment in time, the case is ongoing as Williamson tries to clear his name.
